We at the International Centre for Eye Health are saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Amos Kibata, who died on 17 September 2024 following a battle with cancer. Dr Kibata was a renowned ophthalmologist and founder of the City Eye Hospitals in Nairobi, Kenya. He also served as Chairman of the Ophthalmology Society of Kenya and a Fellow of the College of Eastern Central and Southern Africa (COECSA). Several of the ICEH team were with him this July at the African Ophthalmology Congress in Kigali. He will be remembered by many as a brilliant doctor, colleague and friend and we share our condolences with the Kibata family.
